What a surprise, I drew the Japanese version!*
Let it be known:
This is honestly the most accurate PH drawing I have ever done.
How amazing is this creature's form... It's so simple, yet so hard to actually recreate. It's brilliant.

Here, if you're ever planning on drawing an accurate SH2 PH...
Things that not many people realize:
-The big red pyramid on top is his head. He is not "a guy in a helmet."
-There's a rather large hole in the front of his head, slightly off-center.
-His index, middle, and ring fingers are fused together on both of his hands and gloves. making him have, really, just three fingers on each hand.
-His head has a very thick rim around the base that has an upward curve to it in the front.
-The rim has angular parts on the sides that somewhat conform to his shoulders.
-His head is actually almost 1/2 the size of his entire body.
-There is a sharp little spire on the tip top of his Helmet.
-There are two brown-head Pyramid Heads that wield spears and one red-colored head one that wields the "Great Knife". (not really related to drawing him accurately, but many people don't know it, anyway)

another side note is that it doesn't really have a name. "Pyramid Head" is just one of the several terms people refer to him as. Another is "The red triangle thing", and so on. but this is trivial.

*not actually a surprise. I despise the American version, "bogeyman" and everything about him. He does nothing but break the philosophy of the Silent Hill games, because the creators who made Homecoming did not understand/enjoy the original games, and just liked how he looked, so they put him in because whatever, he doesn't represent something absolutely specific, right?

I always thought the issue with his fingers in game was because that method of modeling usually saved polygons, unless thats in the official concept art (which I havn't ever seen).

He "interacts" with the player (whom he repeatedly tries to kill) in SC2, the monsters (he does heinous sexual acts), and other supporting cast members (mostly killing involved there too), he doesn't speak if that's what you're asking. I could go further into his character, but that brings with it a lot of spoilers to SH2 (and why would I wanna go do a mean thing like that? :P).

wha-!? no, I knew all of that stuff already! I was asking if he ever was in the same room as a bubble head and/or reacted to them at any time in the storyline of the game. Because I can't ever remember that happening. He only molested mannequins, if I remember correctly.

And if the hands were given only three fingers to save polygons, why is he the only human character they did that with?
If I remember, the bubble heads had fused fingers as well.

Generally, player characters & important storyline characters (Generally speaking, the humans) warrant more polygons. Initially, PH was nothing more than a sort of midboss, and as such, warranted a mid size amount of polycount resources (as usual protocol goes with resource management for earlier console 3D tittles). If you had the chance to take a closer look at a lot of the models (I have), a lot of "Corners" are cut on models to save polygons and free up processing power of the console.

This of course is compensated for with high quality texturing (or skinning). If you want to see a prime example of this, take a look at the models from Final fantasy 11 (online). The models in that game have INCREDIBLY low polycounts, all which is made up for in really great texture maps.

Like I said though, I haven't seen any official concept art of PH in a long time, but to answer the bubble head question, no, the only time you ever really see PH is when he's chasing you, or raping some Mannequin's lol.

He's boogeyman only in homecoming. In SH2 he's mostly refeered as the red pyramid creature (or something like that).
I bet you might know it already but I just felt like saying it again D|
Still the drawing looks quite awesome. I just wonder how PH would interact with :iconuboaplz:

Of course I know these things, silly.
And the one in homecoming was the exact same one in the film.

(The film based on SH1, proving that Americans still can't seem to get this "Japan" thing correct.)

And I have absolutely no idea how that meeting would go. My mind can't comprehend it. It's simply too insane to think about.

"American version?"

Is there such a thing? I only call 'em the game version and the film version... Unless we're not talking about the same thing?

But yeah, the game version looks so much better than the film version. I wonder why EVERYONE always goes for the film version whenever they cosplay him or make fanarts of him...

the film was American-made, Silent Hill Homecoming was American-made. Nonsensical-Muscly-Pointy-American version appeared in both.

And yes, why doesn't anyone appreciate the real version?
